Country star and American Idol Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery and his wife Gabi have hearts full of joy—and soon, their home will be a little fuller, too. On May 22, the beloved couple announced they’re expecting their second child this fall, with their 2-and-a-half-year-old son Avery soon to become a big brother.

“A new best friend coming this fall,” they shared on social media, alongside a heartwarming set of photos. Dressed casually in matching white shirts and denim, the family looked relaxed and radiant. Little Avery proudly wore a “big brother” sweatshirt, smiling as he stepped into his exciting new role.
The couple’s love story is one fans have followed for years. Scotty and Gabi were high school sweethearts, dating for six years before tying the knot on June 16, 2018, in a picturesque ceremony nestled in the mountains of North Carolina—a place close to Scotty’s heart and roots. That special moment, and the love leading up to it, were captured beautifully in Scotty’s hit song Five More Minutes.
In October 2022, the couple welcomed their first child, Merrick Avery McCreery, named in honor of Gabi’s father. While he bears a family name, they lovingly call him by his middle name, Avery.
And the good news doesn’t stop there. This new chapter comes on the heels of an exciting musical collaboration. Earlier this month, McCreery teamed up with Hootie & the Blowfish for the nostalgic new track “Bottle Rockets,” which cleverly nods to the band’s 1994 classic “Hold My Hand.” Rather than simply sampling the original, the band re-recorded their parts, adding a fresh layer of authenticity that Scotty says makes the song truly special.
“I think that’s one of my favorite things about the song,” McCreery shared. “Hootie & the Blowfish went back into the studio and brought it to life again—for this moment, for this message.”

As Scotty and Gabi prepare to welcome another life into their growing family, they continue to balance life, love, and music with grace and gratitude. Fans around the world are celebrating this joyful milestone with them—and waiting with open hearts for the next sweet lullaby Scotty might write.
