Country superstar Lainey Wilson is stepping onto the big screen for the first time — and judging by the newly released trailer for Reminders of Him, her film debut is going to hit audiences right in the heart.
The nearly three-minute trailer from Universal Pictures gives fans their first emotional glimpse into the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, a heartbreaking and deeply human story of love, loss, and redemption.
The film follows Kenna (Maika Monroe), a young woman whose life changes forever after one tragic mistake. Her love story with Scotty (Rudy Pankow) begins sweetly — an innocent workplace romance sparked by his repeated purchases of single yellow plates — but one stormy night, everything shatters. A devastating accident takes Scotty’s life, and Kenna ends up serving seven years behind bars.
“There was before you and there was during you,” Monroe’s voice narrates softly over the dramatic footage. “For some reason, I never thought there would be an after you.”
When Kenna is finally released, she returns to her small Wyoming hometown to piece her life back together — but her past follows her everywhere. Her daughter’s grandparents, played by Lauren Graham and Bradley Whitford, are determined to keep her from seeing the little girl she loves.

That’s where Lainey Wilson’s character, Amy, steps in. Though her role remains mysterious, the trailer shows Wilson delivering one of the most quietly powerful moments of the film. With her signature Louisiana twang — gentler here, more vulnerable — Amy asks Kenna a question that cuts straight to the core:
“What’s your trauma?”
When Kenna confesses she just got out of prison, Wilson replies with a bittersweet laugh: “Sh*, you win.”*
It’s a small exchange, but one that feels heavy with understanding — two women, both scarred by life, finding solace in shared pain.
The film also stars Tyriq Withers as Ledger, a former NFL player turned bar owner who becomes an unexpected ally in Kenna’s struggle for forgiveness. Other notable cast members include Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek), Zoe Kosovic, and Monika Myers.
Directed by Vanessa Caswill and co-written by Colleen Hoover herself alongside Lauren Levine, Reminders of Him is set to deliver the emotional depth that has made Hoover’s books beloved by millions.

For Lainey Wilson, this marks another exciting chapter in her rapidly growing career. After captivating audiences in Yellowstone and topping country charts with songs like “Heart Like a Truck”, Wilson continues to prove she can do it all — sing, act, and make audiences feel every word.
Her connection to Universal Pictures also runs deep. In 2024, her original song “Out of Oklahoma” appeared on the Twisters soundtrack, earning multiple nominations and a Grammy nod as part of the No. 1 Billboard Country Albums hit.
Reminders of Him, which has sold over 6 million copies and been translated into 45 languages, will hit theaters on March 13, 2026.
With Colleen Hoover’s emotional storytelling, a powerhouse cast, and Lainey Wilson’s raw authenticity, Reminders of Him promises to be a film that reminds us all of the hardest truth about love — that even when it breaks us, it’s the only thing that can put us back together. 💔✨
